Family has its full origin in God. Not just with the creation of Adam and Eve but in a very paternal and fatherly sense for all of us. The Greek word for family in Ephesians 4:15 is patria, from pater, “father”. Every family on earth that has ever been or will ever be is of the same family from the same Father. We bear His name with all its rights and privileges and, yes, responsibilities. Are you a "chip off the old block"? The Bible clearly indicates you can be but not by your own efforts. God, The Father, has made a way through Christ Jesus His Son, to give YOU His Holy Spirit which makes all things possible for the one who believes. "...you may be filled up to all the fullness of God." Eph 3:19

Ephesian 3:14-19 (NASB) 14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
